Every fall some kind of flu goes around. But this year it’s a different flu season with both seasonal flu and the pandemic H1N1 flu circulating. Most Ontarians who get the flu will be able to manage their symptoms at home, but some people who get the flu may need further assessment by a health care provider. Here are some self-assessment tools as well as what to do if you have the flu.
Toronto Public Health - Daily Health Checklist
Do you have:
-Fever over 38ºC/100ºF
-Cough
-Sore Throat
-Joint Pain or muscle aches
-Fatigue or weakness
-Headache
If you answered "yes" to fever and cough AND one or more of the other symptoms, you probably have an influenza-like illness.
Note: In children under 5 years of age, vomiting or diarrhea may also be present, but not necessarily fever.
